The beautiful west coast of Istria is decorated by several island groups among which is the largest, and many would agree, the most beautiful group of islands, Brijuni. It is consisted of 14 islands and islets. In 1983 Brijuni was declared a national park and includes the islands of Veliki Brijuni, Mali Brijuni, St. Mark, Gaz, Okrugljak, Supin, Supinic, Galija, Grunj, Vanga (Krasnica), Pusti (Madona), Vrsar, St. Jerome and Kozada. The flora of the archipelago has created almost magical landscapes with Mediterranean characteristics. On Veliki Brijuni you can find a safari park full of exotic herbivores such as llamas, Indian elephant, and steppe and mountain zebras. The Ethno park inside the safari park is a perfect representation of the Istrian farms as it holds many native species like Istrian sheep (Istrian Pramenka), donkeys and goats.
