Surrounded by walls, the quaint town of Motovun is like a gift from the past. With its authentic looks, Motovun embellishes Istria leaving its visitors spellbound. Motovun’s forest, known for the abundance of truffles, stretches along the Mirna River valley and picturesquely complements this city-monument giving it a magnificent natural environment. A must is the 123 km long narrow railway Parenzana that connects Motovun with numerous sites in Istria. The railway was once connecting as many as 33 places and was passing through Italy and Slovenia. Motovun now has a well preserved station located at the foot of the hill, just before the entrance of Motovun tunnel.
