The largest island among the Elaphite Islands is Šipan. Its beauty is in its many bays which are gently splashed by the clear sea that is full of life and diverse type of fish. Sipan is a place of top quality olives, grapes and figs, and what rises its value, in addition to natural beauties, are numerous churches, the real witnesses of its history and culture. The most beautiful beaches are located in Sudurad, one of the two settlements of the island. Near its harbour is a Renaissance castle of family Stjepovic-Skocibuha which, in the 15th century, marked the beginning of connecting the island to Dubrovnik. There are also 42 old summer houses on the island, which are a real proof of the popularity of the island as an oasis of peace among the Dubrovnik’s nobility.
